Styrofoam densifier helps waste styrofoam "save" from landfill in Kent County
A polystyrene (PS) drop-off has been established by the Kent County Department of Public Works (DPW), giving West Michigan citizens an opportunity to recycle foam PS, sometimes known as Styrofoam, a notoriously obstinate type of plastic waste. The material is compressed and baled at the North Kent Transfer Station using a PS densifier so that it can be transported to a processor and utilized again. According to the DPW, foam plastic was previously rejected and ended up in a landfill since it is primarily air and impossible to recycle.
Because there was no suitable recycling method before, a lot of styrofoam, which we often call EPS waste, was landfilled. Because it is believed that this kind of waste is basically air, there is no way to maximize profits, so no one wants to accept this loss-making recyclable resource, and it can only end up in landfill. In order to avoid this situation, the use of styrofoam densifier has become more common.
GREENMAX styrofoam densifier is the oldest equipment among all volume reduction equipment. It is also a better and more popular equipment. It has not been withdrawn from the market for decades after its launch. It is still a high-selling equipment, which shows its compression effect. This equipment heats and melts the air in the styrofoam to achieve dense compression.
According to DPW deputy director Nick VanderVinne, "foam polystyrene has been a problem material for recycling centers for a long time because it takes up so much space due to its air contents, making it inefficient to process." "We can now compress and process it for reuse, which is in line with our objective of lowering landfill waste in Kent County."
The compression ratio of GREENMAX styrofoam densifier is 90:1, which is higher than other technically supported recycling equipment. This is also one of the main selling points of styrofoam densifier. Currently, many customers in Europe and the United States are using this recycling equipment for recycling, which not only establishes a high-quality brand image, but also truly contributes to the environmental protection cause.
