A Brief Introduction of PS Foam Lines
PS foam is the basic and also major material for PS frame lines production. The quality of frame lines depends on the PS foam material. The PS lines foamed from good PS materials would have symmetrical skin textures and reliable quality. And those foamed from bad PS materials would have problems during application such as easy to be broken, to fall and inconvenient for installation and so on.
The question is what is PS foam and how much do you know about it?
First we should know that the full name of PS is Polystyrene. Polystyrene is the polymer synthesized from the free radical polyaddition reaction of the styrene monomer. It is a colorless and transparent thermoplastic, and has the glass transition temperature higher than 100 ℃. The PS pellets become PS foam through secondary foaming, so PS foam is also called EPS, Expanded Polystyrene.
More physical properties of PS:
The amorphous density of PS is from 1.04 to 1.06 g / cm³, and the crystal density is between 1.11 and 1.12 g / cm³. The melting temperature is about 240 ℃, and its resistivity is 1020 ~ 1022 Ohm • cm. Polystyrene in normal condition is amorphous random polymer with excellent diathermancy, insulation and transparency. The long-term using temperature should between 0-70℃. It is crispy and easy to crack in cold environment.
Many people don’t know much about PS foam, but nearly 90% of them have used this material. It is usually referred as a plastic material but different from others.
